FALL SESSIONS! Calling all future water explorers, ages 3-12. Avalanche Bay Waterpark is making a BIG splash with our first-ever Learn To Swim program! Learning to swim isn't just about conquering the coolest slides – it's about becoming a water superstar, ready for any adventure. Imagine exploring our northern Michigan lakes with confidence, knowing your child can stay safe and have a blast. Avalanche Bay teamed up with Jeff Ellis Swimming to turn your child into a confident, water-safe explorer. Join our crew of certified instructors for a variety of class options this spring and summer.

4-Week Sessions
Sessions:
- Two (2) x 45-minute sessions per week
- 4 week duration
- $100 registration fee
- Upon completion, students receive:
- Certificate of achievement

Preschool
Ages 3-5
Preschoolers, take the plunge! This 30-minute class builds on the skills learned in Parent & Preschool, helping young swimmers gain confidence in the water independently. We'll focus on coordinating arm and leg movements, while reinforcing Sophie the Safety Seal's WaterSmart Rules for aquatic fun and safety!

Beginner: Stroke Readiness
Ages 5-11
Ready to level up? Our Beginner class builds upon existing water skills, teaching kids ages 5-11 the basics of front crawl, elementary backstroke, and backstroke to complete a 25-yard swim in each style. We'll refine those essential water skills and emphasize water safety rules, making confident swimmers a splash away!

Advanced Beginner
Ages 5 - 12
The Advanced Beginner class elevates swimming skills beyond the basics, focusing on refining stroke techniques and building endurance. Students will master front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and scissorkicks. By emphasizing coordination and proper technique, we aim to develop confident, well-rounded swimmers ready to tackle more advanced aquatic challenges.

Each swim class has a maximum of 10 participants per class.

At this time we do not offer classes for infants. We hope to add this class in the future.

Due to our limited class availability, we do not offer make-up classes at this time.

If this is your first visit to Avalanche Bay, you might be wondering what you should bring along. We have put together a list of what to bring below.
What you need to bring: Bathing suit, goggles.
What you don’t need to bring: Towels, Shampoo, soap, hair dryers.
With our large locker rooms, you don’t even need to dress before you get here.

No problem. Simply contact our Customer Care Team at 231.549.7155 at least 2-weeks prior to the start of your session for a full refund. Within 14 days of the start of your session, you may receive an Avalanche Bay credit to be used towards a future purchase.
No refunds are available once the session has started.
